Previously, I received my PhD in Biomedical and Health Informatics (2015) from the University of Washington. I was advised by Wanda Pratt. During my PhD, I did an intership at Microsoft Research with Kori Inkpen. Before that, I received my MS in Information and Computer Sciences (2011) and BS in Informatics (2009) from the University of California, Irvine, where I was advised by Gillian Hayes.
Currently, I am currently a postdoctoral fellow in the School of Informatics and Computing at Indiana University Bloomington. I work with Katie Siek and the ProHealth group. I have been fortunate enough to be able to work with great graduate and undergraduate students at IU.
Research-wise, my work has focused on the relationships that people create and foster through non-traditional means (i.e., not face-to-face interactions) and platforms. For example, in the past, I have examined how health vloggers (those who vlogged their experiences about a chronic condition on YouTube) established connections with their viewers.
